A Message from the Parish President
Every day I arrive at the Parish Government Building with one goal in mind - to improve the quality of life in Plaquemines Parish. Now more than ever it is imperative that our parish become united. As a united parish we stand better able to attain the goals of improved levees, repaired infrastructure and the rebirth of our community. We must continue to reach out to our neighboring parishes and speak with one strong voice on issues of regional urgency and importance. When I took office on January 2, 2007, I knew the job was not going to be easy. In fact, it is more arduous than I ever imagined. But this has not discouraged me; in fact, it has only made me more determined to help bring our beloved parish back to life. First and foremost, I want to see all of our residents return home. Yes, the stumbling blocks are many. But we are working hard to remove as many of them as possible so that the road home is as smooth as possible. With all of the lessons learned during the past two years, one stands out – WE ARE STRONG. The people of Plaquemines did not give up after Betsy or Camille, and we certainly won’t give up after Katrina. In this time of rebuilding, I ask for your patience, your input and support as we continue to work toward recovery and a brighter future for all of our residents.
